With wireless systems, with their ease and speed of installation and setup, is it possible to achieve instant feedback from all devices, as was the case in classic wired systems, without losing reliability and battery consumption?
By the way, it should be clarified that the transmission of alarms from wireless devices was and still is instantaneous. We are talking about the interactivity of actuators and the reduction of command execution latency.
And yes! U-PROX engineers succeeded in this thanks to the Wake-on-Radio (WOR) technology, which they have successfully implemented in our modern home security and automation systems.
Wake-on-Radio is an energy-efficient wireless communication technology that allows devices to stay in ultra-low power mode and activate only when needed, without waiting for a regular scheduled power-up (test period) with a so-called “heart beat” (a notification of viability containing battery status and signal strength).
WOR is based on the principle that the receiver periodically wakes up for a very short time to listen to the radio airwaves. If the transmitter hears an alarm, the device instantly wakes up and receives a notification from the hub that contains an order to perform a certain action and immediately starts performing it.
So, what are we talking about? Let’s start with the detector with photo verification U-PROX PIR Cam. The technology allows you to get a photo on request by pressing a button in the app.
Next, we will continue to implement the technology in keypads that will immediately wake up with an entry delay countdown after opening the door, later in sirens and electric valve control devices, and finally in door contacts that are equipped with LED outputs to indicate that the system is armed.
In U-PROX security systems, the use of WOR allows to improve interactivity and extend the life of wireless detectors and actuators on a single set of batteries by applying the optimal test period (sometimes called ping frequency), without significantly reducing it as it was usually done before.
The main advantages of WOR in U-PROX devices are:
low power consumption, which reduces the cost of maintenance and battery replacement.
quick response of devices to alarms or changes in the state of the protected area.
WOR technology makes U-PROX equipment an ideal solution for modern security systems, providing a balance between reliability, convenience and cost-effectiveness.

We are excited to announce that the universal OSDP-enabled readers U-PROX SE Keypad, U-PROX SE Mini, and U-PROX SE Slim have successfully obtained FCC (USA) and ISED (Canada) certifications.
We are proud to announce the strategic expansion of the U-PROX brand into the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) through a new official distribution partnership with i-Alarmsysteme GmbH.
Introducing U-PROX SE Slim – a stylish and reliable access control reader that uses a unique design solution – a tempered glass panel. This is the glass you see every day on smartphone screens.
We have improved the operation of U-PPROX Smoke fire detectors in the U-PROX Home app – now users can quickly turn off the alarm sound and temporarily suspend the detector's response for 10 minutes.
Tired of constant upgrades of local servers and excessive costs for maintaining your access control infrastructure? Cloud-based access control systems offer a radically different approach: flexible scalability without additional capital investments, round-the-clock access to real-time data, and maximum security thanks to modern encryption methods.
The multi-standard U-PROX Desktop reader with USB interface now supports Mifare DesFire secure identifier technology - a family of 13.56 MHz contactless chips compatible with the ISO/IEC 14443 A standard.
Realizing the importance of quick and efficient analysis of security events at your facility, we are pleased to announce the expansion of video verification capabilities in U-PROX access control systems.
Usually, a motion sensor simply reports an alarm, but it is not always clear what caused it. Photo verification removes any doubts — you can immediately see what is happening at the facility.
