Smart elevator, or how the elevator control system works

It turns out that elevators have their own history of movement, and it is not always under your control.

Modern elevator control systems are not just a comfortable option, but a full-fledged tool for controlling the movement of people between floors of a building, with functions to restrict access to certain floors only for authorized persons.

Imagine a residential complex or a business center where the owners want to know who is going up to a particular floor, have statistics on passenger traffic, and at the same time prevent unauthorized access. That’s where integrated solutions come in, controlling the operation of the cab based on keys, passes, or biometric data.

Smart elevator, or how the elevator control system works

From a business perspective, an elevator access control system means reducing security costs, increasing comfort for office occupants and employees, and eliminating accidental or unauthorized visits. The security aspect includes protection against intrusion into restricted areas, monitoring of critical floors (for example, with server rooms), and rapid response in emergency situations.

In essence, elevator systems involve the connection of hardware components with specialized software that collects data, allows you to manage transportation scenarios and analyze usage statistics.

U-PROX offers a proprietary solution that is easy to manage and scale depending on the needs of your facility:

  • Quick installation without complicated settings
The system can be installed in a short time and does not require any special technical specifications.
  • Autonomous operation mode
In case of loss of communication with the server, the elevator system continues to function without stopping.
  • Instant readiness to accept the next identifier
After selecting the floor, the system immediately recognizes the next card or key fob.
  • Flexible configuration of access rights
The administrator can assign each user access to one, several or even all floors.
  • Reliability and durability
Components are designed for a long service life and can withstand active loads.
  • Low power consumption
The system consumes from 8 to 42 W depending on the number of connected modules.
  • Real-time event monitoring
Up-to-date information on all user actions is available, including confirmation of floor selection.
  • Remote control
The operator can configure the system and monitor its status from anywhere with network access.

The integrated elevator system from U-PROX consists of four main components:

  • U-PROX IC E – intelligent elevator controller. It is designed to organize an access control system to the floors of the building.
  • U-PROX RM is a relay executive module of the U-PROX IC E elevator controller.
  • U-PROX WRS485 is a module for converting the Wiegand interface to RS-485 and vice versa, as well as for connecting Wiegand compatible readers to the elevator controller.
  • U-PROX SL Mini 2 is a universal reader with multi-format ID support.
