All new equipment that supports working via Bluetooth – is programmed from the mobile configurator, and the U-Prox Desktop USB reader can also be (programmed) via the COM port (from the COM-port console).
Operation via console exists, but not all features (compared to the mobile app) are available there.
– see in the email attachment the file RS232Proto_3_ua.pdf.
Encryption of old readers via the “MF_ReaderConfig” configurator – corresponds in new devices to the “SL1 diversifying” encryption mode – see the description below.
Configuration templates:
– are compatible only on identical devices and of the same generation.
For example: – firmware for SL mini V2 versions 30.xx and 2.xx have incompatible templates;
templates from U-Prox Desktop are incompatible with other readers.
– transferring templates between SL mini/mini V2, SL maxi, SL keypad, SL steel versions 2.xx – possible
– transferring templates between SL mini/mini V2, SL maxi, SL keypad, SL steel versions 30.xx – possible
For SL-series readers:
– after updating a device to version 30.xx – if you attempt to downgrade to 2.xx the devices will NO LONGER work; the reverse transition is NOT supported.

- Configure readers exactly as you configure the U-Prox Desktop via the mobile U-Prox Config app (see instructions later in this text). You can first configure encrypted-card operation on one reader, verify operation, then save the template from this wall-mounted reader (NOT from U-Prox Desktop) and replicate it to others.
- Remove power, short the white and green wires together, apply power (without separating the wires), log in using U-Prox Config, set the engineer code, save settings, remove power, separate the wires.
U-Prox readers (released FROM 2018) work with Mifare Classic (“SL1”/“SL1 diversifying” encryption) and with Mifare PLUS (“SL3”/“SL3 diversifying” encryption), and are programmed:
► via the mobile configurator – U-Prox Configurator (download from PlayMarket or AppStore);
► usage instructions – later in this text.
• Encryption of cards – see section I.
– exclusively via the U-Prox Desktop USB reader, released FROM 2017, and which HAS versions 11.xx – see section III.
or
– U-Prox Desktop mod.2 which HAS versions 3.xx

Card issuance (Mifare Classic)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJhTf75GAeQ
Our SL-series readers, U-Prox mini MF, and the U-Prox Desktop USB reader work with Mifare Classic (SL1) cards and Mifare Plus (SL3, AES encryption).
Issuance of encrypted Mifare Classic or Mifare Plus cards is performed via U-Prox Desktop.
Mifare DESFire-type cards are only read (external UID).
Writing to a sector, or reading data from their sectors, is NOT AVAILABLE.
DES – you will not be able to issue, because the equipment does not support that protocol;
only AES works – and thus only cards operating under that protocol.
The U-Prox Desktop USB reader can ONLY read the external code of DES-format MIFARE cards (for example, MIFARE DESFire EV1); it does NOT work with the sectors of such cards.

If you are using U-Prox Desktop USB readers of versions 11.44/11.45 (BLE 2.34/2.35) – v.1 modification, with GID 00:32:00:…:
These reader versions will NOT work with older U-Prox IP software versions 3.40.1 and below; they require U-Prox IP versions 3.49.1 and above.
After writing new encryption parameters and Mifare-card settings via the mobile configurator, you MUSTdisconnect the app and then reconnect to the U-Prox Desktop USB reader to apply the configuration.
When moving on to issuing (encrypted) Mifare cards, you MUST, immediately after card issuance completes, disconnect the app and then reconnect to the U-Prox Desktop USB reader if further actions are required.
Only for U-Prox Desktop USB reader v.2 modification versions 3.24 (GID 00:4E:FE:…):
To issue Mifare Plus cards in “SL3”/“SL3 diversifying” from the transport SL0 mode – simply enable, even without specifying parameters, SL1 in the Mifare Classic profile, and then proceed to issue Mifare Plus cards in SL3. This is necessary because a Mifare Plus card, during encryption, must first be switched from SL0 mode to SL1, and only then to SL3.
