How to Add a Mobile Identifier License in U-PROX Desktop

Free Mobile Identifier Licenses for U-PROX Desktop USB Reader (2nd Revision, GID 00:4E:FE:…)

By default, 5 prepaid mobile identifier licenses are available per USB reader (U-PROX Desktop, 2nd generation). These can be requested by contacting technical support or the sales department — for example, via email at support@u-prox.systems.

To generate a license file for the USB reader, provide the following information:

  • GID – the unique serial number of the reader (usually formatted as GID 00:4E:FE:…)
  • Name of the organization or distributor that supplied the reader

The GID is typically printed on the back side of the reader. You can also view it in the COM port console with the i command.

Below is an example (the GID number is grayed out):

Refer to the RS232 protocol description for the U-PROX Desktop USB reader in the document titled “RS232Proto_3_ua.pdf”.

After receiving the mobile_id-XXXXX.license file from U-Prox, follow these steps:

  1. Save the mobile_id-XXXXX.license file from the email attachment to the Downloads folder (this is the default import directory for the U-Prox Config app on iOS or Android).
  2. Open the U-PROX Config mobile app and connect to the U-PROX Desktop reader.
  3. In the menu, select “Add Licenses” and choose the mobile_id-XXXXX.license file you just saved.

Important: The mobile_id-XXXXX.license file is single-use and is bound to a specific GID (device serial number). It cannot be reused or transferred to another device.
