Protecting a property starts beyond the building itself. Entrances, yards, driveways, and other outdoor areas need monitoring to help identify an intrusion before someone reaches the premises. When motion triggers an alarm, visual information helps users understand what happened and decide how to respond.

U-PROX PIR Cam Outdoor combines outdoor motion detection, a built-in camera, photos on demand, and active anti-masking in one wireless device. Designed for private homes, offices, warehouses, and industrial facilities, it provides an outer layer of protection with visual confirmation of events.

Outdoor coverage tailored to your property

Every site has a different layout. A residential yard may border a busy pavement, while a warehouse entrance may face a driveway or neighbouring property. Adjusting detection coverage helps focus monitoring on the areas that need protection.

PIR Cam Outdoor features two independent infrared sensors, a 90° field of view, and an adjustable motion detection range of 3 to 15 metres. This allows coverage to be tailored to the installation area, helping limit detection of movement outside the property’s boundaries.

The detector can monitor approaches to entrances, open areas around buildings, and selected sections of the perimeter. Detecting movement in these areas gives users an opportunity to assess an event before an intruder enters the building.

Two levels of false alarm prevention

Outdoor environments present challenges for motion detection. Animals, birds, and other sources of interference can create signals that require careful analysis.

PIR Cam Outdoor uses a two-level false alarm prevention algorithm to analyse data from its infrared sensors. This helps distinguish human movement from interference and reduces unwanted activations.

Photo verification adds another layer of information. If an alarm occurs, users can review the images to understand what triggered it and determine whether a response is needed.

When an alarm occurs, PIR Cam Outdoor captures a series of up to 5 photos at a resolution of up to 640×480 pixels. The consecutive frames appear in an image carousel, helping users follow the event as it unfolds.

This visual information supports assessment by both property owners and security monitoring teams. Reviewing a sequence of images can help clarify the cause of an alarm and guide the next steps.

Photos on demand and visibility in darkness

PIR Cam Outdoor also supports photos on demand, allowing users to check the monitored area when they need additional information.

For operation in low light and darkness, the detector features infrared illumination. This enables image capture when natural light is insufficient, so photo verification remains available at night.

Together, alarm photos and photos on demand help users stay informed about activity around the property.

Active anti-masking and removal detection

Outdoor detectors may be accessible to someone attempting to interfere with the security system. Detecting that interference is part of maintaining protection.

PIR Cam Outdoor features two active infrared anti-masking zones, covering the upper and lower sensors independently. The system detects attempts to cover or mask the lenses and sends a notification, even when the security system is disarmed.

A built-in removal tamper also detects attempts to detach the device. These features help users identify sabotage attempts that could affect the detector’s operation.

Wireless communication across the site

PIR Cam Outdoor supports secure two-way radio communication with the hub at distances of up to 4,800 metres in open space. This provides flexibility when positioning the detector around a property, including areas farther from the main building.

Radio channel encryption protects transmitted data, while automatic signal power adjustment helps conserve energy. The wireless connection also simplifies installation by reducing the need to run communication cables to each detection point.

External power with battery backup

The detector supports an external 12 V DC power supply, providing an additional power option for outdoor installations.

If external power is lost, PIR Cam Outdoor switches to its internal batteries to maintain protection. This allows the device to continue monitoring the area during an interruption to its main power source.
